Weather Alert: Heavy Rain and Strong Winds Hit Toronto and Northeastern Ontario
Toronto and surrounding areas are bracing for heavy rain and strong winds as a special weather statement has been issued for the region. According to Environment Canada, a low-pressure system is expected to bring heavy rain and strong winds to the area, with rainfall amounts ranging from 30 to 50 mm.
The special weather statement, which was issued on March 14, warns of strong winds gusting up to 80 km/h, which may cause power outages and property damage. The heavy rain is expected to continue throughout the day, with the system moving out of the area by the evening.
In addition to Toronto, other areas under the special weather statement include the GTA, York, and Durham regions. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions, such as securing outdoor furniture and decorations, and avoiding travel unless necessary.
In northeastern Ontario, rainfall warnings have been issued for multiple regions, including North Bay, Sudbury, and Timmins. The heavy rain is expected to cause flooding and pooling of water on roads, making travel hazardous.
