Igloo Recalls Over 1 Million Coolers Due to Fingertip Amputation and Crushing Hazards

Igloo Products Corp has issued a massive recall of over 1 million 90-quart rolling coolers due to reports of fingertip amputation and crushing hazards. The recall, announced by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), affects coolers with tow handles that can cause serious injuries.

The Hazardous Design

The coolers' tow handle can cause fingers to become caught, leading to amputation or crushing injuries. The CPSC has received reports of at least 25 incidents, including seven cases of fingertip amputation.

Igloo has offered to provide a free repair kit to consumers, which includes a new handle design that eliminates the hazard. The company has also promised to refund consumers who prefer not to repair their coolers.
